The sensation of hearing ringing in the ears, often referred to as tinnitus, has intrigued & mystified individuals across cultures & ages. Beyond its medical implications, this phenomenon carries a rich tapestry of spiritual significance for many. While acknowledging the potential medical causes of tinnitus (which ideally will be confirmed by a medical doctor), various spiritual traditions offer other interpretations of this experience and delve into its possible deeper metaphysical implications.

It is also interesting to note that approximately 80–90% of people diagnosed with tinnitus also have some degree of hearing loss, so if you do not have any hearing loss, consider the following.

In the realm of spirituality, ringing (or buzzing) in the ears is often seen as more than just a medical condition called tinnitus. It can be considered a “sound’ from the universe, cosmos or higher spiritual realms connecting all life forms to the divine source. From a spiritual perspective you, are connecting with the divine, and it is a sign that the individual is tuning in to higher frequencies or spiritual energies.

In the Sant Mat tradition, which is deeply rooted in the philosophy of inner spiritual experiences and meditation, such sensations are considered a form of celestial music often called, ‘Sound Current’, ‘Music of the Spheres’ or the divine melody reverberating within. Link to Sant Mat philosophy information: https://rssb.org/index.html

Sant Mat emphasizes the importance of inner meditation and connecting with the inner sound and holds the belief that the ringing in the ears is an echo of the divine sound or “Shabd, or in biblical terms ‘The Word’ and is deeply revered and considered a pivotal aspect of the journey towards spiritual awakening and self-realisation.

This inner sound is believed to be present in every being and connects them to the divine source. Meditation practitioners consider this phenomenon as an invitation to turn inward, to listen attentively to this divine symphony, and to journey deeper into their spiritual selves. By listening intently to this inner sound, it is seen as a ‘guide’ that leads the practitioner towards higher states of consciousness and spiritual evolution.

In many spiritual traditions, it is strongly suggested that the seeker of spiritual truths should have a spiritual guide, often called a Guru, Master, or Spiritual Teacher, to avoid any pitfalls and to learn the correct meditation techniques. You can specifically listen to the ‘inner sounds’ by meditating on the third-eye chakra with a specific mantra given to you by your spiritual guide.
Third Eye Chakra – 5th: dynamic meditation portal to spiritual realms

It is essential to approach the experience of ringing in the ears with a balanced perspective that encompasses both spiritual and medical dimensions. Medically, tinnitus can stem from numerous factors such as exposure to loud noises, ear infections, or underlying health conditions. It is crucial to consult medical professionals to rule out any physiological causes that may require attention or treatment. Sometimes, the spiritual and medical realms can intersect, highlighting the importance of holistic well-being.

For those on a spiritual journey, the ringing can serve as a catalyst for introspection and mindfulness. It can prompt individuals to explore their inner landscapes, meditate, and seek alignment with their spiritual selves. The concept of “Nada Yoga” in Hinduism and Buddhism also emphasises the practice of focusing on inner sounds to attain higher states of consciousness, emphasising the significance of sound in our spiritual evolution.

In various spiritual disciplines worldwide, the interpretation of ringing in the ears varies. It can be seen as a call for heightened awareness, urging individuals to pay attention to their thoughts and actions. Others consider it a message urging them to realign with their spiritual path or to embrace a particular spiritual practice more consciously.

Ultimately, the spiritual significance of ringing in the ears lies in the interpretation and personal beliefs of the individual experiencing it. For some people, it may symbolise harmony and spiritual attunement, while for others, it could signify a need for self-reflection or a reminder of their spiritual journey.

Many mystical and religious faiths have used many words for this ‘divine sound current’; below are a few that can be investigated if interested in this concept:

Christianity: The Word (Logos), Holy Spirit

Hinduism: Nada, Shabd, Nam, Dhun, Om (Aum), Brahman (in the form of sound)

Sikhism: Naam, Shabad

Islam: Kun, Kalma, Kalimatullah (Word of God)

Judaism: Dabar (Hebrew for “word” or “speech”), Shekinah (Divine presence, often associated with voice or sound), Bat Kol (Voice of God)

Buddhism: Dharmakaya (Cosmic law or truth, sometimes associated with sound), Nada (Subtle inner sound heard in meditation)

Zoroastrianism: Ahura Mazda’s Word

These terms reflect the universal nature of the concept across spiritual traditions, each emphasising the idea of a divine sound or word as a creative and sustaining force in the universe.

What your body is trying to tell you?

Have you ever wondered what your body is trying to tell you?

Most people only begin to pay attention to their body when something feels wrong — when there is discomfort, fatigue, or illness. Yet long before symptoms become strong enough to demand attention, the body is already communicating. This all happens naturally, without any conscious effort on our part. The question is not whether the body speaks… but whether we are listening.

The Body as a Messenger

In my experience, the body is not working against us — it is working for us.
It is our best friend, especially if we listen to the whispers before they become screams.

Symptoms are often seen as something to suppress or get rid of as quickly as possible. While relief is important, and in many cases necessary, it is also worth considering that the symptom itself may be carrying a message.

The body reflects what has built up over time — physically, emotionally, and mentally. Tension, stress, unresolved emotions, and ongoing patterns of thinking can all influence how the body responds.

When we begin to see symptoms in this way, they can be understood as signals rather than problems.

Why Do Signals Get Stronger?

The body tends to communicate in stages — little hints here and there. If it doesn’t get our attention, those hints can become stronger.

At first, the signals may be subtle — a feeling of unease, tiredness, or mild discomfort. These are easy to overlook or dismiss.

If these early signals are not acknowledged, they often become more persistent and sometimes more intense. What began as a quiet message becomes clearer.

It is not that the body is failing — it is simply becoming more direct.

The Connection Between Thoughts and the Body

Our thoughts and responses to life play a significant role in how the body behaves.

Patterns such as worry, frustration, or holding onto past experiences can influence the way the body feels and functions. Over time, these patterns may be reflected physically.

This does not mean that everything is “in the mind,” but rather that the body, mind, and emotions are closely connected and constantly interacting.

Understanding this connection allows us to approach our health in a more balanced and aware way.

This is not about blame or guilt — we are all learning as we go.

For more information, check out my other article:
Dynamic Health and Wellbeing – How our thoughts affect us!

Learning to Listen

Listening to the body is not complicated, but it does require awareness — and often a slowing down.

Rather than focusing only on what is happening outside of us, or wishing things were different, we can begin by turning our attention inward.

It starts with asking simple questions:

What am I feeling right now?

When did this begin?

Is there something in my life that may be contributing to this?

The third question is often the most important, as it encourages us to take greater responsibility for our situation.

Often, just pausing and observing — without immediately reacting — can bring a deeper understanding.

Moving Towards Awareness

When we begin to listen to the body rather than ignore it, something shifts.

We move from reacting to symptoms… to responding with awareness.

This shift allows for greater clarity, better choices, and a deeper connection with ourselves.

Over time, this awareness can lead to a more balanced and integrated way of living.

Ponder On This – What Your Body is Trying to Tell You?

The body is always communicating.

The more we learn to listen, the less it needs to raise its voice.

I explore this idea more deeply in my book The Language of the Chakras – Learn What Your Body Is Telling You, where I look at how the body, mind, and energy system work together to guide us towards greater awareness.

Decluttering – is it time to let go? For some people, it is synonymous with letting go of the past! Decluttering (physically, mentally, and emotionally) is an under-estimated personal growth tool!...

Decluttering – is it time to let go?
For some people, it is synonymous with letting go of the past!

Decluttering (physically, mentally, and emotionally) is an under-estimated personal growth tool! Letting go of and ‘tidying up’ whatever is preventing you from living harmoniously in the present is a valuable tool to aid in your personal growth, spiritual growth and healing.

The amount of clutter we have in our lives is a reflection of our mental and emotional state of mind. Decluttering refers not only to letting go of physical objects and ‘tidying up’ the physical aspects of your life, but it also refers to letting go of and resolving any emotional stress and anxiety associated with the physical things we continually collect and find challenging to let go of.

We know that it is highly beneficial to resolve or just let go of past challenges, anger, traumas, resentments, and guilt, as well as any outdated and/or unbalanced thought processes regarding the past, present, and future.

Aim to let go of anything that is:

1. cluttering and ‘messing up’ your life
2. bringing back ‘hurtful’ memories
3. causing tension or conflict in your life
4. holding you back from reaching your full potential
5. contributing to your anxiety and stress
6. making you feel ‘crowded in’ with no room to move and grow
7. stifling, smothering, and stagnating your life
8. hindering you from moving forward
9. letting go of no longer serves you

A significant aspect of decluttering is that you are consciously involved in the process of freeing yourself of anything that you realise you do not need anymore, is unnecessary to keep, and that you feel may be holding you back.

Every time we relive a past event in our minds, our body relives the experience too,
and it impacts our hormones, muscles, organs, and nervous system.

It is much more challenging to move forward unless we can let go of the past! Our destiny is calling us, but if we hold onto the ‘anchor’ of past stresses, anger, and injustices, we will struggle to move forward. It is like having a sore that is trying to heal, and we keep picking at it while wondering why it will not heal. Learn to leave it alone! Let go!

To give you an even better idea, some synonyms for decluttering are: dejunking, unjumbling, organising, tidying up, purging, disentangling, freeing up, and detaching. When you get the ‘junk’ out of your life, everything improves – mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. For many people, decluttering at any level leads to a feeling of personal liberation!

The physical act of decluttering our home and/or workplace is extremely symbolic of our willingness and ability to let go, detach, and have a more organised and less cluttered life! We do this without being obsessive about the organisation of our environment or what some call ‘perfectionism’, as that comes with its own set of challenges!

For lots more information my book The Language of the Chakras is available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DVWDSPSM

How to begin physical decluttering

1. Start slowly. Sometimes our minds can overwhelm us by telling us the task is too big! If this is so, select a single drawer or cupboard for today and start there.
2. You do not need to throw away everything! It is OK and positive to keep some sentimental items.

3. Aim to keep only those things that make you feel good and add to the quality of your life
4. If emotions come up when you are decluttering, it is very wise to speak to a counsellor and/or friend.

Questions to ask yourself when decluttering: (this applies to both physical and emotional aspects of our lives):

1. Why am I keeping it?
2. Do I like it?
3. Do I use it?
4. How does it make me feel?
5. Will I ever fix it?
6. Do I really need it in my life?
7. Is keeping it is holding me back from being in the present?
8. Do I need more organisation in my life?

Specifically related to ‘our story’ from the past:
1. Do I need to hold on to that story from the past, and am I letting that story define who I am now?

2. Am I using that story as an excuse for why I behave a certain way and why I can’t achieve certain things?

This in no way negates past traumas, as they can have a major impact on our whole way of life.
It is a sign of strength to ask for help — counselling can be an important step in healing.

For more information, take a look at my other posts, such as: Karma-Consequences in Action

One of my aims is to help you declutter your life by letting go of the past!

Keep in mind that when we re-arrange our surroundings, it is often synonymous with us rearranging our lives for the better. We hold the key to the ‘prison door’, and we can open it and set ourselves free. Even one step toward the present is progress.

Your environment = a reflection of your inner state.

I am off to clean my car now!-lol

If you are struggling with your thoughts, personal interactions, experiencing a personal crisis or have anxiety or depression, it is highly recommended that you seek help from a doctor, mental health professional, counsellor or therapist. It is a sign of strength to ask for help, not a weakness!

Outward Signs of Spiritual Growth – (Inner Change in Everyday Life) by Stephen Canning

Spiritual growth isn’t measured by beliefs, labels, rituals, how you look or spiritual language.
It’s not about what you say you believe — it’s about how you live, day to day.

HOW:
■ you respond to stress and situations
■ you treat people
■ your mind behaves when life gets difficult
■ safe you feel inside yourself
■ much noise, business, stress, you actually need to feel okay
■ you can let go of the negative effects of past grievances, hurts, pains and angers
■ you can let go of regret
■ you respect yourself regarding your eating habits, exercise, and restricting unprescribed drugs.

AND YOU ARE NOT FANATICAL ABOUT ANY OF THIS!

This change can be subtle, and it’s rarely dramatic and initially can be rarely visible to others. And most of the time, it’s not even something you consciously notice at first.

It just starts to feel like: Something is changing… and I’m not fighting life the way I used to.

These signs aren’t things you try to create. They’re natural byproducts of inner development.

They happen quietly. Organically, and seemingly without effort (although ‘behind the scenes’, you have to put in the ‘work’).

Across many traditions, the principle remains the same: ‘we reap what we sow‘.

As Rumi said so simply:
“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.”

Outer Life Markers

Changes in everyday living
These show up in normal life — not in spiritual spaces.
■ In conversations.
■ In routines.(eg.what you eat, drink, exercise, meditation, yoga)
■ In what you tolerate.
■ In what you’re drawn to:

Less attraction to drama, chaos, conspiracy theories and gossip
You just don’t have the appetite for it anymore.
Arguments, outrage cycles, emotional noise — they feel draining instead of stimulating.

More love for silence and simplicity
Quiet stops feeling awkward.
Stillness stops feeling empty.
You don’t feel the need to fill every moment.

A desire to be in Nature more

Reduced need for constant stimulation

■ Less scrolling.
■ Less background noise.
■ Less compulsive distraction.
■ Less need to “fill the space”.
■ not feeling lonely in aloneness

Natural detachment from excessive social life (not rejection)
You still care about people, but you don’t need constant interaction to feel whole.

Desire for truth over entertainment
Genuine insight starts to matter more than passing fad.
Meaning matters more than just acting out a part or doing your duty.

Enjoyment of solitude without loneliness
Being alone no longer feels like something is missing.
It feels like rest.

I’ve noticed this one personally — the silence starts to feel like a friend instead of a void.

Mind Markers

Changes in how your mind behaves
This is where growth becomes really obvious. Not in what you think — but in how your thinking works.

Thoughts slow down more easily.
Stress cycles/thoughts aren’t as intense or as long-lasting.
Overthinking doesn’t spiral the way it used to.

Gaps between thoughts appear.
You experience moments of quiet in your own mind — even during busy days.

Less compulsive thinking and catastrophising
The mind stops constantly predicting disaster.

More witnessing, less reacting.
You notice thoughts and emotions instead of being swallowed by them.

Less complaining.
Even mentally, and less trying to change others

The ego softens
Less defensiveness
Less proving
Less needing to be right
Less comparison
Less internal pressure to perform, especially to others’ expectations

Emotional responses become gentler
You still feel — but you don’t explode or collapse as easily.

Acceptance replaces constant complaint.
You work with reality instead of fighting it all the time.

More warrior, less worrier
Strength starts replacing anxiety.
Calm starts replacing panic.

The biggest shift is this:
Your mind stops feeling like your enemy and starts feeling like something you can actually live and work with. Your mind becomes your instrument instead of your master. You listen to ‘Soul Urges’ rather than to mainly physical-sense urges.

Identity Markers

Subtle shifts in how you experience yourself
This is the deepest change — and the quietest.

You don’t suddenly become “spiritual.” LOL You just feel… different inside yourself.

Less identification with the body, more connection to spirit
You still live in your body — but you don’t define yourself by it.

Less fear of death
Not in a morbid way — just a quieter relationship with impermanence.

Less obsession with outcomes
You still care — but you’re not controlled by results.

Feeling like a witness to life
You experience life without being crushed by it.

Deep inner safety
A calm sense of stability that doesn’t depend on circumstances.

Quiet joy without cause
Not necessarily excitement or pleasure.
Just contentment — for no particular reason.

This one is hard to explain — but when it happens, you know it.
Life feels less threatening, Less fragile. Less overwhelming. Less out of your control.

What This Really Means

Spiritual growth isn’t mystical or dramatic, it’s:

emotional regulation

nervous system stability

ego softening

psychological coherence

inner safety

identity maturity

It’s not escape from life — it’s clarity within life.

The Real Marker of Growth
■ Not what you experience.
■ Not what you believe.
■ Not what you say.
■ Not what you claim.

But:
■ You suffer less
■ You react less
■ You fear less
■ You understand more
■ You forgive more
■ You feel safer inside yourself
■ You love more quietly
■ You need less validation
■ You feel more at home in your own skin
■ You recognise that some days are much more challenging than others, and the ‘growth’ is in how you respond to these challenges.

That’s real growth.

Rumi put it perfectly: “Why are you so busy with this or that or good or bad — pay attention to how things blend.”

Final Reflection

Spiritual growth isn’t loud. It isn’t dramatic. It isn’t performative. It isn’t something you announce.
It’s quiet, Subtle, Stabilising, and Grounding.

It makes you:
■ calmer, not louder
■ softer, not sharper
■ deeper, not busier
■ simpler, not more complex
■ freer, not more complicated

You don’t become more “spiritual”, you become more human.

And often, the only people who notice are the ones who feel safe, calm, and settled around you.

Chakra awareness plays a key role in increasing our overall wellbeing, and we will be better equipped we will be to develop both physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

It’s very important to know that in addition to being physical in nature, our physical body has various energetic bodies occupying the same space as well as emanating out from it (the Aura) up to 9 metres. These energy bodies vibrate at their own frequency and interweave with each other. There are 7 energy bodies, starting from the physical body and going outwards: Physical, Etheric, Astral (also known as Emotional), Mental, Causal (also known as Spiritual), Monadic and Divine.

Underlying and supporting every activity of the physical body (e.g., mind, muscular, skeletal, immune, organ, and nervous systems), the energy system forms a matrix or blueprint which our body uses to sustain as well as heal itself. This energy has been given various names in different cultures, for example, Prana, Chi, Life Force and Vital Force. This energy connects throughout the body via channels called nadis, which feed into the 7 main energy centres, commonly called the Base, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, Third Eye and Crown Chakras. These 7 main chakras are linked up and down the spine by 3 major intertwining energy channels called nadis: the ida, pingala and sushumna, (see diagram below). There are also thousands of minor chakras and thousands of secondary nadis throughout the body.

These chakras permeate through all the energy bodies, not just the physical body& are focal points for the receiving, accumulation, and distribution of the various forms of subtle energies from within and around us, enabling them to be utilised by the body. ‘Chakra’ is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘wheel’, and they are in constant rotation. This rotation helps activate the energy in the chakra and helps facilitate its distribution to the body parts associated with it. When a specific chakra is not functioning optimally, the energy flow is ‘disturbed’, and the organ systems and body parts served by that chakra will be affected. This disturbance will show up as symptoms. Our health is ultimately determined by the energy flowing harmoniously through our Chakra system, which can become sub-optimal for many reasons.

How to Encourage Chakra Awareness

All our energy systems benefit from the positive effects of healthy food, exercise, sunshine, water, a healthy environment, relaxation, meditation, and sleep, but most importantly, positive thoughts, attitudes, and a connection with a higher power – some call it Spirit, the Divine or God. Optimum chakra energy flow is significantly diminished by negative, limiting, or stressful thought patterns, especially holding on to past resentments, anger, and guilt, as well as excessive worrying in the present moment or about the future. Our Chakra system gives us ideal ‘observation points’ for ‘looking into’ ourselves and observing what ‘lessons’ are here for us to learn right now, (i.e., we will get certain symptoms in certain areas of our body).

The 7 main Chakras

Any time you have symptoms, it is wise to ask yourself, “What lesson (or lessons) is my body ‘hinting’ I could learn right now?” If we are taking medicines, we can ask ourselves, “What part did I play in needing these medicines?” We do not do this to make ourselves feel guilty, but rather to take responsibility for where we find ourselves in life right now, and to gain insights into ourselves. Sometimes we may need to take medicines! When this is so, you can do your best to listen to your body and maintain a balanced lifestyle, which in many cases can lead to you requiring less medicine and/or recovering more quickly.

Some symptoms can also be of genetic, environmental, or traumatic origin. When this is the case, you can do your best to listen to your body and observe your thought processes as a way of gaining awareness and understanding of yourself. This can assist you in maintaining the best health possible in your circumstances.

Many therapies and activities can help balance our chakra energy system and encourage the body and mind to heal, as well as facilitate clearer self-awareness for positive change. Many therapies also seek and address the underlying causes of our symptoms so that we can learn the ‘lessons’, which usually revolve around changing our outdated and/or unbalanced thought processes (regarding the past, present, and future) and improving our lifestyle choices.

Here is an outline of my book ‘The Language of the Chakras’ – learn what your body is telling you and why this healing book works! Available on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DVWDSPSM
or on this website https://www.chakrawisdom.com.au/shop/. Also available as an eBook: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F1L47TFD

The Chakra System as a Diagnostic and Transformational Tool

The chakra system outlined investigates the seven main energy centers and is presented as both a ‘diagnostic map’ for health issues and a blueprint for personal transformation.

Each chakra corresponds to specific physical organs, emotional patterns, and psychological traits. Chakra imbalances manifest in both symptoms (illness, fatigue, emotional pain, a compromised immune system) and behaviours (fear, self-doubt, anger, frustration).

Consistent wellbeing and healing involve consciously engaging with the chakra through affirmations, lifestyle changes, meditation, and emotional awareness.

The Language of the Chakra

The Power of Mindset and Thought

The book emphasises that thoughts have energetic and chemical effects on the body. You are encouraged to become the observer of your thoughts, recognising that not all thoughts are true or helpful!

The concept of the “Good Wolf and Bad Wolf” illustrates how positive vs. negative thinking affects health and wellbeing. Through mindfulness and meditation, individuals can interrupt negative patterns and feed the “Good Wolf,” — which encourages healing and resilience.

My Favourite Short Story

A little boy asked the guru to tell him about the mind
and the guru says, “The mind is made up of
2 wolves, a good wolf, and a bad wolf,”
and the little boy asks him, “Which one wins?”
and the guru says, “The one you feed the most.”

Affirmations as a Healing Tool

Positive affirmations are incorporated into the book’s healing methodology and each chakra has 7 affirmations associated with it, addressing the specific emotional and physical imbalances of each chakra.

Affirmations work by rewiring the subconscious mind, replacing limiting beliefs and self-sabotaging thoughts with constructive, empowering ones. Regular, conscious repetition is recommended — supported by writing, speaking, and listening to affirmations daily.

Personal Responsibility and Self-Inquiry

I choose to unclutter my life!

A key theme is taking personal responsibility for one’s health, decisions, and growth. Rather than seeing illness or life difficulties as random, you are asked to reflect: “What is my body or situation trying to teach me?”

Several self-assessments will help you uncover their internal blocks, recurring thought patterns, or unresolved traumas.

Decluttering the Inner and Outer World

Decluttering is both literal and metaphorical: clearing physical space, outdated thoughts, toxic relationships, and emotional baggage. Letting go is a pathway to clarity, vitality, and spiritual expansion.

Practical strategies are offered for making room, physically and emotionally which automatically encourages growth and healing.

Mindfulness & Meditation

Mindfulness is presented as the foundation for noticing, understanding, and transforming inner dialogue.

Meditation is described as a core practice for balancing chakras, calming the nervous system, and gaining insight. Techniques like breath awareness and mantra meditation are outlined, with an emphasis on starting small and staying consistent.

Integration of Spiritual, Emotional, and Physical Health

Health ideally is viewed holistically, not just the absence of symptoms, but a state of balance across all levels of being. Emotional patterns (e.g., guilt, fear, shame) are directly linked to specific chakras and illnesses and by healing at the emotional or energetic level, the body often responds with improved health or reduced need for medications.

Self-Acceptance and Boundaries

A strong message of self-love and acceptance runs throughout and you are encouraged to set boundaries, say no when necessary, and stop rescuing others at your expense.

The idea is to move from self-sacrifice to empowered support, for self and others. From being a rescuer to being a mentor!

Spiritual Connection

The upper chakras (Third Eye and Crown) deal with intuition, divine connection, and higher purpose.

You are invited to see themselves as more than the body and mind, as spiritual beings in a physical experience. Trusting in a “Higher Self” or universal intelligence is essential to inner peace and guidance.

Practical Tools and Ongoing Practice

The book offers an integrated toolkit: self-assessments, affirmations, meditations, chakra education, and body-mind links.

You are guided to create daily rituals using these tools — fostering a proactive and empowered approach to your own health journey.

Why This Chakra Healing Book Works

Healing is not presented as a quick fix, but as an ongoing journey of becoming more conscious and aligned.

The goal is not perfection, but awareness, balance, and self-compassion.

The body is a teacher and ally, constantly guiding us back to wholeness if we’re willing to listen.

Chakras-Understanding them:

The Chakra System – To appreciate the language of the chakras, we must first understand that as well as being physical in nature, our body also has various energetic bodies occupying the same space and emanating out from it (the Aura) for metres! There are 7 energy bodies (see image below), in total, each vibrating at its own frequency.

These energy bodies interweave with one another, starting from the physical body, and going outwards. The 7 ‘bodies’ are Physical, Etheric, Astral (also known as Emotional), Mental, Causal (also known as Spiritual), Monadic and Divine. Underlying and supporting every activity of the physical body (e.g. muscular, skeletal, immune, organ, brain, and nervous system), the energy system forms a matrix or blueprint which the body uses to sustain as well as heal itself.

The Language of the ChakrasThe Language of the Chakras – learn what your body is telling you!

This energy has been given various names in different cultures, for example, Prana, Chi, Ki, Life Force and Vital Force. This energy connects throughout the body via channels called nadis, which feed into the 7 main energy centres, commonly called the Base, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, Third Eye and Crown chakras.

Our bodies are a masterpiece design that will inform us of our next level of personal growth. If anyone wants to know their next level of personal growth just look at your symptoms whether they be mental, emotional or physical.

By embracing the power of the chakras, you can unlock their full potential, enhance well-being, and create a more vibrant, fulfilling life. Whether new to chakra work or looking to expand their practice, this book offers valuable insights and practical tools to support the journey toward holistic health.

This book can be used as a personal growth tool that will assist you in consciously moving forward & gaining a deeper understanding of the body/mind/spirit connection that is expressed via the chakra system in your body. You will gain clarity as to which thoughts, affirmations & other tools will support & encourage your personal growth, health & wellbeing.

Many ‘life lessons’ are identified by observing your symptoms & learning to listen to your body’s whispers before they turn into screams for attention. Where & how the symptoms manifest can help determine which Chakra is ‘wanting’ your attention, which in turn will point to a certain attitude, mindset & lifestyle your body would love you to adopt.

Having been a health and wellbeing practitioner for the last 43 years and seen over 30,000 clients, I realise that the most important factor in determining someone’s health is their attitude to themselves, their attitude to life, and their response (or reaction) to life’s challenges.

Another word for attitude is ‘mindset’. Our mindset is fostered in early life by our parents, society and our friends and often that mindset we adopt is not conducive to good health. In fact, our mindset (the way we think and process information) can be an obstacle to good health.

Ideally, we would aim to get to the stage where we realise that, “I am not my mind, I am not even my thoughts. I am the observer of my thoughts.” The aim is not to be deceived by the thoughts that are not true and/or negative as they are obstacles to our good health. The body believes everything we believe. Chakra Wisdom Chart

Nourish Your Spirit with Mindful Eating

Eating Sattvic foods will nourish your spirit in so many ways and play a pivotal role in promoting your well-being by linking health and spiritual pursuits. These foods align with the principles of Ayurvedic medicine and yogic principles emphasizing balance and harmony in both the body and mind.

Ayurveda classifies foods into three categories – Sattvic, Rajasic, and Tamasic – based on their impact on the mind and body. Sattvic foods are considered pure and promote clarity, calmness, and positive emotions.

It is advised to avoid or minimise Rajasic (stimulating) and Tamasic (dull, heavy) foods when seeking mental, emotional and spiritual well-being, (more on this below).

At the core of Sattvic Foods is the belief that consuming fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced plant-based ingredients enhances physical vitality and mental clarity. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and dairy products form the foundation of a Sattvic diet, excluding pungent, overly spicy, and excessively salty foods.

This dietary approach is not just about sustenance but also about cultivating a deeper connection with nature and one’s inner self.

These foods are rich in essential nutrients, and they support overall well-being, boost immunity, and aid digestion. There is an emphasis on moderation which aligns with mindful eating practices and promoting a healthier relationship with food.

By choosing foods that are light and easily digestible, practitioners of Sattvic eating foster a sense of physical lightness and mental clarity, conducive to spiritual exploration, and spiritual growth and facilitate a better meditation practice.

Spirituality, in the context of Sattvic foods:

Spirituality, in the context of Sattvic foods, extends beyond the physical realm. It involves recognising the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit and experiencing that consuming foods that resonate with nature’s rhythms enhances spiritual awareness and promotes a sense of inner calm.

Also, the act of preparing and consuming Sattvic meals is considered a sacred practice. Mindful cooking, gratitude for the ingredients, and savouring each bite contribute to a mindful eating experience.

This mindfulness transcends the act of nourishing the body; it becomes a form of meditation, fostering a connection with the divine within and around us.

Sattvic eating is a pathway to holistic well-being, where health and spiritual pursuits merge. According to certain spiritual and holistic traditions, (especially Ayurvedic and yoga traditions) there is a connection between Sattvic foods and the chakras in the body.

In the yogic and Ayurvedic philosophy, the human body is believed to have seven main energy centres known as chakras. These chakras are associated with different aspects of physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Each chakra governs specific organs and functions in the body, and they are connected to the flow of vital energy or prana.

Satvik Food in Relationship to the Chakras

Consuming a mainly sattvic diet helps to balance the energy flow within the body, encouraging the optimal functioning of the chakras,
and nourish your spirit, mind and body. Mindful eating is the key!

This is the relationship of Sattvic foods in relation to the 7 main chakras:

1. Root Chakra (Muladhara): This chakra is associated with a sense of stability and grounding. Root vegetables like carrots, potatoes, and beets are considered grounding foods that can support the energy of the root chakra.

2. Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana): Linked to creativity and emotions, the sacral chakra is nourished by foods such as sweet fruits, nuts, and seeds.

3. Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura): This chakra is related to personal power and digestion. Sattvic foods that support this chakra include whole grains, dairy, and spices in moderation.

4. Heart Chakra (Anahata): As the centre of love and compassion, the heart chakra is nurtured by green leafy vegetables, fresh fruits, and foods rich in antioxidants.

5. Throat Chakra (Vishuddha): Connected to communication, the throat chakra benefits from fruits, herbal teas, and pure water.

6. Third Eye Chakra (Ajna): This chakra is associated with intuition and perception. Foods that support the third eye chakra include dark berries, nuts, and herbal infusions.

7. Crown Chakra (Sahasrara): The crown chakra is related to spiritual connection. Fasting or consuming light, easily digestible foods like fruits and vegetables helps in purifying and balancing this chakra.

Other Benefits of a Sattvic Eating Plan:

Nutrient-Rich and Balanced Diet: Sattvic foods typically include a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and dairy products. These foods are rich in essential nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fibre, which are crucial for maintaining and supporting optimal physical and mental health.

Digestive Health: Sattvic foods are easier to digest and help maintain a healthy digestive system, preventing issues such as indigestion, bloating, and constipation.

A well-functioning digestive system is linked to both physical and mental well-being.

Moderation and Mindful Eating: Sattvic eating emphasises moderation in food consumption. Practising mindful eating, being aware of the flavours and textures of food, and paying attention to the act of eating itself can contribute to a healthier relationship with food.

Energy and Vitality: According to Ayurveda, different foods have varying effects on the body’s energy levels. Sattvic foods provide sustained and balanced energy, avoiding extreme highs and lows. This steady energy flow contributes to physical vitality and mental alertness throughout the day, and this creates an environment within the body that is more conducive to spiritual practices, including meditation.

Connection with Nature: Sattvic foods are often aligned with the seasons and nature’s cycles. Eating foods that are in season and locally sourced is believed to enhance the body’s ability to adapt to its environment. This connection with nature contributes to overall physical and mental resilience.

Clarity and Calmness of Mind: Sattvic foods have a calming effect on the mind. By consuming fresh, light, and easily digestible foods, individuals can experience mental clarity and a sense of calmness. This state of mind is conducive to meditation, as it allows for better focus and inner stillness.

Subtle Energies: Ayurveda and Yoga philosophy suggests that different foods carry specific energies (prana). Sattvic foods are considered to be rich in subtle energies that nourish the body and mind at a deeper level.

The relationship between Sattvic foods and meditation is intertwined with the holistic philosophy of Ayurveda and Yoga.

By choosing foods that nourish your spirit support clarity of mind, subtle energies, and overall balance, you can create a physical and mental environment that enhances your meditation practice and contributes to spiritual growth. The combination of Sattvic foods and meditation becomes a pathway to explore and deepen one’s spiritual journey.

Conscious and Respectful Communications with Others

Ideally, we aim to have a respectful and conscious conversations with others, although sometimes it may not turn out that way! If someone projects their negativity towards you, i.e., their ‘bad wolf’, (see My Favourite Short Story below), often they would like nothing more than for you to give them some of your ‘bad wolf’, which in reality feeds theirs and they may even justify their behaviour because of yours! Often you just end up with 2 bad wolves fighting each other! Practice not taking the ‘bait’!

They may not be doing this consciously; it may just be the way they habitually communicate. Many people may have convinced themselves that this is the only way they get heard or get their needs met. They tend to speak with anger or by being condescending, blaming, ridiculing, demeaning, teasing, or bullying. These people may unconsciously or consciously want to cause conflict and drama in your life, when in reality, the conflicts and dramas are in theirs!

Establishing clear boundaries around another person’s behavior can proactively bring peace to the situation, reduce the likelihood of accumulating stress and tension in your mind and body, and prevent feelings of victimization.

Setting Boundaries with Virtues for better Conversations

When setting boundaries with others (or yourself), during conversations, it is wise to ask for what you do want instead of saying what you don’t want; i.e., you will be asking them (or yourself), to display a virtue – examples below.

Often when people feel that someone is behaving in a manner that is not acceptable to them, they express to that person what they did wrong, what they do not want, why they should not have done it, or how they always do it etc etc. Ideally, get clear on what you do want before you speak! Ask yourself, “What behaviour (or virtue) would I like them to exhibit”, and then ask for that, e.g. “I would appreciate you having more consideration for my feelings at the moment.”

When you interact with another person and you feel that their behaviour or speech is not acceptable, it is wise to respond by speaking up and asking for what you want. It is better to ask for what you want, rather than going on about what you do not want. To do this it is important to first get clear by asking yourself, “What behaviour would I like them to display right now?” or “What virtue would I appreciate them displaying right now?”

If you do not know what you want, you are more likely to react rather than respond. In reacting, it is easy to express yourself in a negative way by going on and on about what they said or did, what they should not have said or done or that they always or never do this or that, etc.

This is all to do with setting boundaries. For example, if someone spoke to you in a rude, disrespectful, or angry way, you could ask for what you want (and deserve) and say to them, “When you speak to me, I would appreciate you speaking to me with more respect”, and then consciously be detached from any further challenges in their response.

You are not asking for anything unusual! We teach others how to love and respect us by how we love and respect ourselves. When asking them for what you want, you will be asking them to display a virtue; for example, respect, tolerance, patience, love, cleanliness, friendliness, kindness, or loyalty.

In all our interactions we want to treat others as we would want to be treated. Aim to be a mentor to others with your behaviour, speech, and attitude to life.

Sometimes is important to walk away, either to get away from the situation completely or just for a ‘breath of fresh air’, so that you can gather your thoughts so you can respond consciously and with wisdom. It is also very important to practice detachment – when you do not ‘buy into’ another person’s ‘attack’, all their own negativity will ‘bounce’ back to them, sometimes so forcefully that they must walk away! This is especially noticeable in children who may go to their room and slam the door – sometimes coming out in less than a minute as they ‘resolve’ the issue within themselves. This may be a learning opportunity for them (a teachable moment), and you helped by practising detachment and not reacting to their initial outburst in a similarly negative manner. Chakra Awareness – gain amazing insights When only one person is doing the arguing, they run out of energy! Sometimes it can be good to remind yourself, of an old Polish saying: ‘It’s not my circus and it’s not my monkeys.’ “

When asking others for what you want, you’re essentially asking them to demonstrate virtues such as respect, tolerance, patience, love, cleanliness, friendliness, kindness, or loyalty.
Sometimes, it’s necessary to take a step back from a situation to gain clarity and respond thoughtfully. This could involve taking a break to clear your mind or remove yourself from the situation entirely.

Practicing detachment is also crucial. By not allowing yourself to be affected by another person’s negativity, you can prevent it from impacting you and instead have it bounce back to them. This is particularly noticeable in children, who may have a tantrum but resolve the issue within themselves shortly after. By practicing detachment and not reacting negatively, you can turn this into a teachable moment for them. It’s important to remember that often times, “It’s not my circus and it’s not my monkeys,” and we do our best to avoid getting sucked into someone else’s drama. When only one person is arguing, they eventually run out of energy.
Implementing some of the strategies below will help you in being proactive in bringing peace to the situation and reducing the possibility of you accumulating stress and tension in your mind and body.

Communication Skills to optimise your throat chakra

1. Practice detachment.
When you do not ‘buy into’ another person’s ‘attack’ all their own negativity will ‘bounce’ back to them, sometimes so forcefully that they must walk away! This is especially noticeable in children who may go to their room and slam the door – sometimes coming out in less than a minute as they ‘resolve’ the issue within themselves.

This may be a learning opportunity for them (a teachable moment), and you helped them by practising detachment and not reacting to their initial outburst in a similarly negative manner. When only one person is doing the arguing, it runs out of energy! Sometimes it can be good to remind yourself, of an old Polish saying:

‘It’s not my circus and it’s not my monkeys.’

Initially, we may need to ‘fake’ detachment as a strategy to deal with the situation. We may tell ourselves, “I’m not going to react, I’m not going to react”, but unless we practice true detachment and do not take things too personally, all those suppressed feelings will be held in your body! If this is done on a regular basis, it will affect the Throat Chakra especially, and cause symptoms in the shoulders, throat, bronchial tubes, neck, and for some people, lead to a tight jaw and the grinding of teeth.

2. Be receptive.
Sometimes people may express something with an element of truth, regarding your behaviour or suggest something you could do differently, although they say it in a negative, attacking, and disrespectful way. If you can detect some truth behind some of what they are saying (even though they did not express it appropriately!), it is beneficial to get our ego out of the way and say something like, “I hear what you are saying, and I will give it some thought.”

Once again, all the negative and antagonistic energy they displayed during the interaction will ‘bounce’ back to them. Be wary, as some people may give you their opinions as a way of controlling you. If there is no truth whatsoever to what they are saying, practice detachment as outlined in No.1 above, or practice number 3 below.

3. What behaviour would you appreciate from them? – i.e. Setting Boundaries.
When you interact with another person and you feel that their behaviour or speech is not acceptable, it is wise to respond by speaking up and asking for what you want. It is better to ask for what you want, rather than going on and on about what you do not want. To do this it is important to first get clear by asking yourself, “What behaviour would I like them to be displaying right now?” or “What virtue would I appreciate them displaying right now?”

Examples of virtues are in chart below.

If you do not know what you want, the more likely you are to react rather than respond. In reacting, it is easy to express yourself in a negative way by going on and on about what they said or did, what they should not have said or done or that they always or never do this or that, etc. And then that can lead to a even further escalation of tension by bringing up many unresolved issues from the past!

As I mentioned above, when setting boundaries with others (or yourself), it is wise to ask for what you do want instead of saying what you don’t want; i.e., you will be asking them (or yourself), to display a virtue – examples below.

Communication skills

For example, if someone spoke to you in a rude, disrespectful, or angry way, you could ask for what you want (and deserve) and say to them, “When you speak to me, I would appreciate you speaking to me with more respect”, and then consciously be detached from any further challenges in their response. You are not asking for anything unusual! We teach others how to love and respect us by how we love and respect ourselves.

In all our interactions we want to treat others as we would want to be treated. Aim to be a mentor to others with your behaviour, speech, and attitude to life.

4. Walking away.
Sometimes is important and wise to walk away, either to get away from the situation completely or just for a ‘breath of fresh air’, so that you can gather your thoughts so you can respond consciously and with wisdom.

We all acquire better communication skills when we set out to do so. We may not have had the best role models early in our lives so it is up to us to behave in a manner that we feel we would like to and to set boundaries with others as to their behaviour toward us. We teach others how to love and respect us by how we love and respect ourselves.
